Mission Statement

We grow wheat, barley, and canola on 5000 acres.

Wheat
Our wheat is high protein Canadian Western Red Spring which mills into high quality flour because it does not lose protein during the milling process. Canadian wheat is sold throughout the world. This year we are planting 3 varieties of CWRS: CDC Go, AAC Viewfield, and AAC Brandon.

Barley
Century 12 specializes in growing 2 row malting barley. This year we will be growing AAC Synergy variety. Malt barley is used in making beer! We sell a majority of our malt barley to Rahr Malting in Alix, Alberta. Our malt barley ends up in craft breweries across Canada and the U.S. such as Battle River Brewery, Blind Bay, Firestone, CA, and many others.

Canola
The canola we grow is hybrid Argentine canola. It is genetically modified canola which allows us to reduce our overall pesticide use, to reduce our carbon footprint because we do less tillage and therefore burn less fossil fuel, to reduce the soil erosion, and it increases our overall production by over 3 fold per hectare. This creates more food on less land for our ever-growing global population. To feed the world, we need more crop production. We can turn forests into farmland or we can use ag.tech to advance the productivity. GM canola has resulted in herbicide use being reduced by 18%. Although GM crops are not well understood by consumers, they are the most studied and analyzed food crops ever and their safety is well understood by scientists and regulators.
